To celebrate 100 years of Disney storytelling, Camilla Franks has created a spectacular, never-before-seen, one-off couture gown inspired by the incomparable icon that is Disney’s Minnie Mouse.

The one-of-a-kind gown – designed for Disney’s global celebration of creativity, Create 100 – will be auctioned to benefit Make-A-Wish®.

Camilla Franks reveals Disney couture dream gown for Create 100

Our beautiful Founder & Creative Director, Camilla Franks, is representing Australia and New Zealand, alongside renowned talent such as global icon Beyoncé, famed French fashion designer Christian Louboutin, Italian Global Creative Director for Swarovski Giovanna Engelbert, Chinese virtuoso pianist Lang Lang, American fashion pioneer Tommy Hilfiger and celebrated Brazilian artist Vik Muniz.

Imagine the gown of your dreams, straight out of the magical realms of a glittering fairytale. Then wrap it up in a little rock ‘n’ roll grit with a touch of punk. The impossibly luscious creation is all couture on the outside and playtime on the inside.

From concept to completion, the Create 100 gown has been months in the making.

“The design team and I dropped everything to pour our hearts into making this gown into a reality,” said Camilla Franks. “The cutting alone took two full days, putting the piece together took 5 weeks with a whole team working on it.”

“And when we talk about detail, it doesn’t come with more extravagance than this. We used 42 metres of silk, 10 metres of tulle and more than 100,000 hand-applied crystals. On the train alone there’s 400 crystal Mickey heads. That’s about 65,000 crystals! The embellishments are all individually placed."

WHAT IS DISNEY CREATE 100?

Create 100 is a global celebration of creativity marking 100 years of Disney storytelling. Inspired by their personal connection to stories and characters across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century, Create 100 sees some of the world’s most renowned visionaries and next generation talent across fashion, music, art and more who are donating artworks, items and experiences to benefit Make-A-Wish^®.

As part of Create100, Camilla was also asked to elect a fellow Australian creative she believes represents the next generation of storytellers – and chose the talented Bella Bruzesse. Bella has created fashion and textile designs for artists including Katy Perry and Cardi B and for Create 100 has made a piece she calls ‘By A Cheshire Chance’ - a leather and crystal mask inspired by the Cheshire Cat from Disney’s Alice In Wonderland.

Disney has commemorated the launch with a $1 million donation to Make-A-Wish^® to support the granting of life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

A love note from CAMILLA to Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse, celebrating 100 years of Disney and the world of possibility it has brought us. Discover the limited edition collaboration of eight luxurious prints, available now.

In partnership with the Disney design team, the CAMILLA team of in-house artisans delved into the Disney illustration archives, selecting iconic comic elements and classic Disney iconography and combining them with hand-sketched fairytale motifs to create eight limited edition prints that bring the Disney legacy to life.

With the mouse that started the magic centre stage, we transform an inspired journey into free-flowing dress silhouettes, cheeky minis, classic kaftans and epic bombers. In these limited edition prints, our collective of artists salute the journey of Mickey and Minnie from heart-felt early sketches to the magical modern day.
