The taste of granita al limone lingers as I sit in the plaza, scribbling. The afternoon light brings shimmering flashes of inspiration of gilded ceilings at Palacio Real, the colour-washed halls of Aranjuez, a hospital painted in joyful defiance, ceramics tumbling from stalls and alcoves. I can't remember where one moment ended and another began; everything drifts into a beautiful blur. Here, the muse is a wanderer of her own.
