FROM THE FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

“I first visited Türkiye in 2013. It spoke to my soul and made a home in my heart. I knew, deep down in my bones, that I would return one day to experience and honour it more fully. Finally, in 2023, I knew the time was right. My first Türkiye collection was called My Wandering Heart. This collection is a return to the CAMILLA heartland, so I have named it The Wandering Poet. It is an homage to Türkiye and to everything I hold dear: storytelling, artistry, adventure and printmaking.”

CHAPTER NINE: BODRUM BOHEMIA

"Beautiful bougainvillea flowers lure me onto my balcony. Nature plays, throwing joyous juxtapositions as the fuchsia blossoms sprinkling the branches magnify the crystal blue of the ocean beyond. An electric vista that will stay with me long after I close my eyes.”

CHAPTER EIGHT: OTTOMAN ODYSSEY

"Quirky pieces from the jumble of stalls at the Feriköy Antique Market whisper their tales to me. Vintage cigarette papers, Ottoman miniature drawings and other tiny treasures. A cornucopia of preloved pieces with pirouetting backstories. Each piece is pocket-sized art; myths and folktales that can be held in the palm of your hand. They are portals to another time, sharing stories of rebellion, history, love and loss. I signal to the store owner and take my favourites home to write the next chapter.”

CHAPTER SEVEN: COLOURS OF CAPPADOCIA

"Lustrous rugs are spread before us, soft and inviting, created in rich tones and artful motifs. We gaze ahead into the sunrise, where hot air balloons are scattered across a scorched horizon. These fiery globes drift so silently, they could be clouds set ablaze. They sail over hills dotted like honeycomb, where fairy chimneys stand guard over secret caves. With my head in the clouds, and textiles between my toes I am in beautiful equilibrium.”

CHAPTER SIX: CALL OF THE WILD

"I am beckoned into the rug boutique and stumble into an explosion of colour, shape and textiles. Earthy tones share space with vibrant hues infused with pops of gold. Rich, intricate patterns pay tribute to the art of
tiling. The majestic beauty of the animal kingdom is woven through wonders that lounge languidly like the beasts themselves. Imagine if they all came to life at once. Oh, how they would roar.”

CHAPTER FOUR: BLOOMING IN THE BAZAAR

"The air is sweet with inspiration at the Arasta Bazaar and I am transfixed by the artisans at work. Nurturing hands cajole and shape ceramics. Wrists twist embroidering lace. Mastery is in motion and art adorns every corner. I breathe deeply as floral scents slink into the aromatic atmosphere. It’s a perfume born of petals, spices and labours of love that I would happily wear forever."

CHAPTER THREE: SPELLBOUND IN SULTANAHMET

"The early morning sunlight bounces off palm trees and the buttery yellow facade of the Four Seasons hotel in Istanbul's Old City. I sip tea in the garden surrounded by vibrant blooms and luscious foliage, attended to by curious birds and butterflies. Colour takes flight in a motley rainbow of feathers, wings and plumes. She vaults across tiles and springs from the soil. She threads herself through a million magical Turkish rugs before coming to rest on my shoulder. I invite her to nestle in close, for we are kindred spirits."

"When beauty sings her sweet serenade, my soul must answer. I ascend the staircase of the Dolmabahçe Palace tilting my head skyward to the Ottoman domes above. These celestial realms make the most mighty of us mere subjects. Architectures both storied and divine dance a surprisingly supple waltz. Bombastic Baroque and raging Rococo take the polished hand of Neo Classicism. From great hall to atrium, ballroom to balcony, it’s an exquisite symphony of crystal, light and colour."
